BabylonGardens proudly announces the successful completion of its recent green roof project at the Technical University of Crete (TUC), the very first green roof at TUC, marking a significant stride towards sustainability and environmental consciousness. The 65m² green roof, situated atop a building of the TUC Chemical & Environmental Engineering School, is a testament to our commitment to fostering green initiatives.
The green roof initiative materialized as part of the “JUSTROOF – Implementing a Green Roof to Support the Just Transition” project, funded by the EUTeens4Green program, dedicated to supporting youth-led projects in just transition regions, and was undertaken by four TUC students.

Under the guidance of BabylonGardens experts, the students, alongside the dedicated staff and PhD students of the Laboratory of Environmental Engineering and Management, brought the green roof to life. The project aligns with the goals of the EU Cohesion policy, emphasizing the importance of good governance and active participation in building a sustainable future.
“We are thrilled to unveil the first green roof at the Technical University of Crete, a tangible outcome of the dedication and hard work put forth by the students and the BabylonGardens team. This project reinforces our commitment to sustainable practices and empowers the next generation to be catalysts for positive change,” stated Ms. Christina Deligianni, Managing Director of BabylonGardens.
